GAITHERSBURG – A large group of over 105 volunteers and supporters attended a Delaney for Congress Campaign Cookout this Monday at Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg. The Montgomery County cookout was the first of a series of cookout events the Delaney campaign will hold across the Sixth District this year and took place after the Gaithersburg Labor Day Parade.
“I’m so honored that so many would take time out of their holiday to walk with me in Gaithersburg and join us today at our cookout. Labor Day is a time to celebrate the American worker, remember the struggles that brought us much needed achievements like a minimum wage, the weekend, and improved workplace safety,” said Delaney. “Those hard-fought battles helped create the American middle class and strengthening the middle class and creating more jobs is what this election is about. I’m running for office so that working families can thrive again, which starts with rebuilding our infrastructure, making higher education more attainable, making sure that working moms receive equal pay for equal work, and improving our economic competitiveness with long-term deficit reduction, smart investments in science and research, and combating over-regulation.”
Congressman Delaney was joined by Maryland Attorney General Candidate Brian Frosh, Maryland Senator Nancy King, and Kevin Walling, the Chair of the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee.
