AGIt was my great pleasure to take part in the 47th Annual Autumn Glory Festival this weekend in Oakland. Despite some cloudy and rainy weather, the scenery was as beautiful as always. Garrett County is truly one of the treasures of our state.

We heard some wonderful music on Friday evening at the Maryland State Banjo, Fiddle, and Mandolin Championships at Southern Garrett High School.

One of the highlights of the evening was an incredible performance by a student ensemble from Crellin Elementary School, Rhythm and Rubbish. These students, 4th and 5th graders, made music out of everyday objects that many would usually consider trash.

On Saturday, I was honored to take part in the Autumn Glory Parade. Thanks to everyone who gave up their time to talk – before, during, and after the parade.  – John
