The Washington Post featured an opinion piece by Editorial Page Editor Fred Hiatt on Congressman John K. Delaney’s (MD-6) presidential campaign and the theory behind his candidacy. Delaney, who Hiatt describes, “committed to bipartisanship and compromise in the service of accomplishment” discusses his experiences on the campaign trail and shares his vision for the future of the Democratic party and the country. Hiatt writes that Delaney has “thought carefully and intelligently about what kind of leadership the next president should provide.” The full text is copied below.
“What I really liked about John was the fact that he wants to bring back this idea of the American Dream and civility and our stature globally — those are all things that Americans are struggling with right now as we move forward into the future and that whole ‘focus on the future,’ I can totally see that on one of his campaign signs. We’re going to focus on the future. It’s what we really need to be doing.”
