Congressman John K. Delaney (MD-6) will be on the air in Iowa this Sunday with a Super Bowl spot. The ad, titled “Dirty Word” will air in the Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Davenport and Sioux City markets and will highlight Delaney’s bipartisan approach.
Delaney, a Democrat whose congressional district includes D.C. suburbs and rural counties in Maryland, met with a half-dozen people late Saturday afternoon in the Hy-Vee cafeteria here.
The early-to-announce candidate is the first in his party to mount a challenge to Republican President Donald Trump for the November 2020 election.
Beyond the early-and-often approach, Delaney is staking his candidacy on the idea that Democrats and Americans as a whole are hungry for a unifying force in politics and a commitment to broad-based, bipartisan solutions in Washington.
Congressman John K. Delaney (MD-6) campaigned across ten Iowa counties this weekend, his fifth visit to Iowa since launching his campaign for president this summer.
In Mr. Delaney’s view, America’s trouble isn’t capitalism but a dysfunctional federal government that has “stopped updating that basic social compact.”
Delaney… believes in returning to the assertive, values-promoting, alliance-building foreign policy approach that majorities in both parties once traditionally supported.
